Don’s Monthly Newsletter for August – How Much Tenacity Does It Take To Become a Successful Financial Advisor?
How much tenacity does it take to become a successful Financial Advisor? When is enough enough? When does tenacity become obsession? Is being obsessed with making it a bad thing?
These are opinion questions. There are no wrong answers. The right answers are the ones you deem to be right. Thus, I am not suggesting a course of action in this newsletter. I am offering my opinion, my ‘right’ answers.
Tenacity is a soft skill. It is not innate. It can be learned and it can be taught. If you want your kids to be able to deal with failure, what do you teach them? If you want them to overcome the inevitable adversities of life, what do you do about it? You teach them tenacity. Walter Mischel’s cognitive psychology study had a poignant message for children lacking in self-control: Don’t eat the marshmallow.
Diets fail, relationships are abandoned and Financial Advisors don’t hit their goals for a variety of reasons, a major one being lack of persistence.
So how much tenacity does it take to become successful?
Read or listen to the monthly newsletter, available in written as well as audio format.
The AskDON episode which goes with this Monthly Newsletter comes from Platinum subscriber, Andy, in Chicago. Andy’s email reads as follows:
I need prospecting help. I know the best way to prospect is to get referrals, but not for me. It takes clients to get referrals and I am too new and too young to have many clients. I’m on a team, but I am still responsible for my own success. What would you do if you were me?
Find Don’s answer in the second part of both the written and the audio version of the Monthly Newsletter.
